August 25th, 2020 (Session 56) – Here is EPISODE 1 of my Summer of 2020 Roanoke VA, fishing trip! In this video, I explored the Roanoke River for different species of the Moxostoma genus — a.k.a. Redhorses/Suckers. Interestingly, I ended up catching a LIFER that I did not expect!!! Read more about it below:

Did you know that…?

🏞…In my entire existence, I have been to Roanoke, VA, only twice. All together…I have spent less than ten days there, and I have fished the watersheds around there for a total of 6 combined fishing sessions (i.e., six days). Yet, each fishing session produced new Lifers for me thus far! If you have never been to Roanoke before, EPF recommends — it is a beautiful place to sight-see, explore, and fish at.
🏞…In all these years, I have never caught any Moxostoma species for my lifelist. When it comes to the Catostomidae family, I only have two Species in it: the White Sucker (Catostomus commersonii), in the Catostominae subfamily and Catostomini tribe; and the Smallmouth Buffalo (Ictiobus bubalus), in the Ictiobinae subfamily.
🏞…The Chainback Darter (Percina nevisense) portrayed in the video is the third species of the Percina genus that I have added to my lifelist; the other two being the Common Logperch (Percina caprodes) that I caught in Tennessee earlier this year, and the Blackbanded Darter (Percina nigrofasciata) that I caught in Orlando in 2019. All of them were pretty aggressive towards the bait!
